Future of Alternative and Natural Medicine
In America during the last decade, the future of Natural Medicine, Traditional Naturopathy and Alternative Medicine has been compromised. The regulation of naturopathy in many states and provinces has changed and compromised the atmosphere of freedom for these practices. Many are concerned by the coming of even more regulation. On the other hand, after the closing last year of Clayton College, for years a leader in teaching Traditional Naturopathy, little has been done to redefine the standards of training for students who have the desire to make a career in Natural Medicine.
Surprisingly, this is business as usual for most of the institutions in the field of online education. But how can we expect a different outcome if we keep repeating the same model of education that has been proven a failure when representing the standard of Traditional Naturopathy in America.
Here are some guidelines for a new model of online education for Traditional Naturopathy, Alternative Medicine and Natural Medicine proposed by IQUIM, the Quantum University:
- To be effective in the 21st century, the training of a student in Natural Medicine should be based on a curriculum that is grounded in the new standard of Science: Quantum Physics. This curriculum should present a comprehensive and integrative approach that is not defined by disease, but rather by positive health. Disciplines such as Homeopathy, Nutrition, Biofeedback, Aromatherapy, Blood Microscopy, Ayurvedic and Chinese Taoist Medicine and others must be explained in a satisfying scientific model.
- How information is communicated to the student should be modernized with the use of the latest online technology. The old-fashioned model, where students earn a degree simply by reading books and taking in-home exams, belongs to the past. A major part of modern teaching can and should be done with real-time video classes. The use of iPad technology makes this not only possible but also practical, simple and effective.
- The curriculum and the resulting degree awarded students should be determined by the pertinent regulations of the state or province where the student will be practicing. Institutions have shown a lack of responsibility and a laxity regarding the proper appellation for the degrees they offer, which has created major consequences for students who have inadvertently used inappropriate titles for their practice.
- Careful attention should be paid to the right of qualified individuals to practice traditional Medicine, Natural Medicine or Alternative Medicine, both in America and worldwide.
Interest in preparing for a career in Natural Medicine and Alternative Medicine is growing and will be more and more an integral part of Health Care for the 21st century. An updated model for education and a concern for creating the best environment for the cultivation and expression of these practices are essential for their success. IQUIM, the Quantum University, offers just such a model to provide the best and most pertinent education for students interested in becoming an Integrative Health Care Professional.
